Edexcel UK Politics and Core Ideologies Question Predictions

The first Edexcel A Level Politics exam of 2025 is less than 6 weeks away. As I do every year, I thought it would be useful to make some predictions for topics that are more likely than others to come up this year, as well as to put together a couple of mock papers that include these topics.
Very Important Disclaimer!!!
You should NOT only revise these topics, you should revise everything on the specification. Anything on the specification can come up in the exam, including topics that were asked about last year (as shown by referendums coming up two years in a row last year!).
The below predictions are only educated guesses about what is more/less likely to come up based on the topics that students have been examined on in recent years. You will definitely not be well prepared for the exam if you only revise these topics.
Edexcel UK Politics Revision Webinar In A Week's Time!!!
On Friday 18th April, Politics Explained will be running a 5 hour long revision webinar for the UK Politics section of the first Edexcel A Level Politics exam. It will be focused around preparing you really well for the questions that are most likely to come up in this year's exam. You can sign up here.
On Saturday 26th April, Politics Explained will be running a similar webinar for the core political ideas section of the first Edexcel A Level Politics exam. You can sign up for that here.
UK Politics Predictions For This Year's Exam
A few topics that are less likely to come up due to coming up last year:
Referendums (it could still be asked 3 years in a row, however!).
Think tanks, lobbyists, corporations (even though pressure groups were also in this question last year, I think it's much more likely than the others that they'd be asked about two years in a row).
Election campaigns and manifestos.
Quite a few of the questions last year were on big topics that could very easily be asked about again this year, so don't be complacent. These include voting behaviour, pressure groups and the policies of the Labour and Conservative parties.
Everything else is as likely as anything else to come up, however there are a few topics that I have a hunch are more likely than others to come up:
The Media
Rights In Context
Comparing FPTP With Another Electoral System In Use In The UK/Electoral System Analysis
The Party System/Importance Of Minor Parties/Factors That Affect Party Success
Direct and Representative Democracy
Debates Over Suffrage
Core Political Ideas Predictions For This Year's Exam
The order of likelihood for each core political ideology coming up this year is:
Socialism (wasn't asked about last year).
Conservatism (was asked about last year but not in 2023).
Liberalism (was asked about in 2023 and 2024).
This being said, the exam board have always been very clear that you could get two questions on the same political idea, whilst their choice of referendums two years in a row demonstrates that they are willing to catch people out, in order to ensure that students come to the exam prepared to answer a question on any topic.
You should therefore make sure to revise all three core political ideologies.
